In Prizren, at Mother Cabrini Kindergarten, around 50 children had the opportunity to meet Uta Ibrahimi and hear her inspiring story of climbing some of the world’s highest peaks.

Through the children’s book “Uta in Sharr”, they were introduced to the beauty of nature, wildlife, and mountain life—creating an early connection with the natural world and the spirit of exploration.

During the meeting, Uta also shared a few simple but meaningful messages about the relationship between people and nature. “Mountains teach us patience and respect for nature,” she told the children. “Every great adventure begins with a small step,” she added, encouraging them to stay curious and explore the world around them.

The children showed great curiosity, asking many questions about the challenges of mountaineering and what life in the mountains is like. Their enthusiasm reflected the power of storytelling in opening new perspectives for young minds. After the storytelling session, the day continued with a short hike to the historic Prizren Fortress, where the children were able to experience nature and the surrounding landscape firsthand.

This visit was part of the ongoing work of the Utalaya Foundation, which regularly organizes educational visits and activities with children from diverse communities across Kosovo. Through these initiatives, the foundation aims to inspire curiosity about nature, promote environmental awareness, and encourage the protection of the country’s rich natural heritage.

Nature is our greatest teacher,” Uta emphasized during the visit. “The more we understand it, the more we will want to protect it.

A simple day—yet one that may have planted the seed of a future dream. 🌿
